First simulation lab- I think we probably killed the patient. I was assigned the student nurse role.. so HEY it wasn't my fault! haha.. but it was a good experience. After, simulation MBR (what we call my professor) led a death and dying discussion/interactive experience. I really enjoyed it!!
Next day- was our first day going in 'blind' at the hospital. Meaning, no patient worksheets the night before, we just pick our patients in the morning. I think our whole clinical group woke up at 4am.. YES .. 4am. I got to the hospital at 5:15. Martha and I were the first ones there, however everyone came just a few minutes after us. I wouldn't go so early, however MBR expects a lot during pre-clinical (when we give report on our patients) so there is no way I was going to mess up on the very few days of clinical we have left. Anyways, it wasn't actually THAT bad.. and report went smoothly, and the day went smoothly. My patient was so sweet, he kept on calling me m'am!!
The best part of the day, however was at the end. My friend in my clinical Lauren, told me that our professor was highly recommending me and her to the Valor Program (because MBR told her.) The valor program is an externship program at the VA. When I heard that it was really exciting. Just what I needed, to push me through the rest of this semester!
I have 2 days.. 2 days left of patient care. Well and one day where we are 'assigned' a nurse, and this is basically a 'Thank you,' so I am guessing we do whatever they need for the day. I can't believe this semester has flown by like no other.
Welp, back to the books I go
Hope everyone has a great weekend. if anyone reads this :D
