black friday

I ate probably equal to half a cow last night, and I some how woke up hungry? funny how that works. Nonetheless, I am so excited for thanksgiving leftovers!! I would have to say that is the best part of
thanksgiving. The turkey, stuffing, cranberry jello sandwhich is one that I really think most deli shops should have year round. Kudos to Which Wich. I am about to go out and face the cold to get a soy vanilla chai tea latte, and I am steering clear of the malls! Most people, would probably think of me to be one of the 'black friday' shoppers but call me lazy, I don't want to wait in a line that long. Amazon.com satisfies all of my black friday needs. This picture of the bohemian chair and pink post it notes, is posted merely because I found it and love it. I would love that chair and those green walls. The pink post-its and lamps I may be able to go without :).

It is my older brother Nick's 28th birthday today!! He is in the middle with all of his friends. Doesn't he make a great Harry Potter?

Oh and my mom insisted she take this picture of me being, "Minnesotan." I have on my mom's coat which I kind of want to steal it is so warm. But, I guess there is no use for it in Sun Diego. My brother's hat, which I want to steal even more. I have always wanted one of those. I also have on my new sunglasses I got from a Frocking sale. You can't really see them so I'll post a better picture in another post. Happy Black Friday everyone!

Nursing Shmursing

This week has been a great week, well minus the fact that I am cooped up in my room studying while my roomates are out gallaventing around San Diego, however I had an awesome day at Simulation Lab and the hospital.

First simulation lab- I think we probably killed the patient. I was assigned the student nurse role.. so HEY it wasn't my fault! haha.. but it was a good experience. After, simulation MBR (what we call my professor) led a death and dying discussion/interactive experience. I really enjoyed it!!

Next day- was our first day going in 'blind' at the hospital. Meaning, no patient worksheets the night before, we just pick our patients in the morning. I think our whole clinical group woke up at 4am.. YES .. 4am. I got to the hospital at 5:15. Martha and I were the first ones there, however everyone came just a few minutes after us. I wouldn't go so early, however MBR expects a lot during pre-clinical (when we give report on our patients) so there is no way I was going to mess up on the very few days of clinical we have left. Anyways, it wasn't actually THAT bad.. and report went smoothly, and the day went smoothly. My patient was so sweet, he kept on calling me m'am!!

The best part of the day, however was at the end. My friend in my clinical Lauren, told me that our professor was highly recommending me and her to the Valor Program (because MBR told her.) The valor program is an externship program at the VA. When I heard that it was really exciting. Just what I needed, to push me through the rest of this semester!

I have 2 days.. 2 days left of patient care. Well and one day where we are 'assigned' a nurse, and this is basically a 'Thank you,' so I am guessing we do whatever they need for the day. I can't believe this semester has flown by like no other.

Welp, back to the books I go

Hope everyone has a great weekend. if anyone reads this :D

Chanting Double Decker School Bus

I had such a great week at the hospital. It was one of those weeks where I felt like.. "I really CAN do this." I have been studying intermittently for our next 300 test that is a week from tomorrow.
Two things that made me happy this week
1. I have been wanting motorcycle boots for AWHILE. However, everywhere I look they have been expensive, currently in my free people shopping basket is a pair of 200 dollar ones. Anyways, with that being said I could not find it in me to fork out that much money for a pair of boots. However, this weekend when I was shopping for a birthday present for our good friend BHILL, I was in the sale section just mosying around and I happened to look down. There I saw, a buckle on
a shoe. I thought hey that looks cool, so I proceeded to open the box to see two motorcycle boots sitting in front of my eyes. I looked at the size, size 8 (I am size 6 1/2, but with boots socks can add on an inch so that was not a problem. Next, it was time to look at the price... 20 DOLLARS?! sold!! They were marked down from 68 dollars and the last/only pair. I am convinced there was some sort of mistake because they are on their website still full priced. Long story short.. I got the boots!!! (I will post a picture of them soon). I can't wait to wear them with knee highs, cool socks, tights, dresses... yippeee

2. Saturday.. was probably the best day I have had in SO long. It was Bhill and SillyLilly's birthday so they rented a double decker bus for a pub crawl. The theme was 90s.. so everyone's costumes were ridiculous. There was about 50 of us I think and it was all people who we have been friends with since freshman year of college. Needless to say, I have not laughed so hard, chanted so hard, took so many pictures in awhile. It was literally like we all stepped back to freshman year. I loved every single minute of it. My roomates and I woke up in a euphoric state because we were so happy. The ending of the night well lets just say it had to do with me getting kicked out of a bar and taco bell.. oh yeah and papa johns. ( I have not had taco bell in 8 months and I have not had papa johns since high school.) wow.
